Do not trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. - Psalm 146:3

BECOMING A CHRISTIAN

(1) “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). No one will ever be good enough to save themselves. It is like swimming from California to Hawaii, no one will make it. In the same way, we all are separated from God because of sin and can never earn God’s forgiveness.

(2) “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23). God is holy and just so He has to punish sin. His sinless son Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross to take the punishment for our sins so we can be free. Without Christ, death means being lost forever in hell.

(3) “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). We will never be good enough. Again, we are sinking in the ocean as we try to swim to Hawaii from California. A loving Christ wants to rescue us from sin. If we reject Him, there is no hope and we will be lost forever.

(4) “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9). When we cry out to God, He saves us. We become born-again with a new life through God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit (repentance).

RESULTS OF SALVATION

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)
