Madison, Wisconsin’s FFR atheists put up billboards mocking ‘In God We Trust’ law in S. Dakota

ARGUS LEADER – Billboards will be going up in Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Pierre protesting the new state law requiring all public schools to post “In God We Trust” in a prominent location.

The Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation is responsible for the billboards, which feature the four former presidents on Mount Rushmore saying “There goes the neighborhood!” as “In God We Trust” is carved onto the monument. The drawing was completed by former Arizona Republic editorial cartoonist Steve Benson.

Billboards will be up for a month on West 41st Street in Sioux Falls and at Baken Park in Rapid City, as well as on Highways 14 and 83 in Pierre, according to the foundation.

The new law, which went into effect July 1, requires all public schools in South Dakota to post, on the school district’s dime, the national motto “In God We Trust” in a size no smaller than 12 inches by 12 inches in a prominent location at the school. READ MORE
