SEPTEMBER 2024 NEWSLETTER
“Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10)
Thanks again for your prayers and support. The Lord allowed us to reach many people over the summer. USA Track and Field won 34 medals, equaling the amount that were won at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
We have been through eleven Olympic cycles. We started at the 1984 Olympic Games. The next Olympics will be in Los Angeles in 2028. Lord willing we will have an outreach there. We have a lot of ground to cover before then.
I went to Western Kentucky University in 1980-81 to get my Master of Public Health degree. I was a graduate assistant coach in cross country and track. The cross country team was sixth at the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships and won the Ohio Valley Conference with a perfect 15 points.
After that, I became a USA National Track and Field Club Coach (82-92), minister to Olympic athletes, and a defender of Christian athletes. In the last six years, we passed 325 worldwide radio, article, and TV interviews. During the 2024 Olympics, we had a lot of publicity.
I have been notified by Western Kentucky University that I will be the Alumnus of the Week on September 10 that will be distributed nationwide. WKU is a NCAA D1 powerhouse in different sports with 16,500 students. There are a lot of Christians in Kentucky. Please pray that God would use any honor to share the gospel and encourage Christians.
Without the Lord and my wife Liz, it would have been very difficult to stay the course. He opened doors along the way and gave us His strength.
Please pray as we have many opportunities. We may do a trip to Washington D.C. and go to Western Kentucky University. Please pray for God’s protection, provision, and strength. Love in Christ, Steve and Liz McConkey
