Olympian Janay DeLoach Soukup is ready to get on with the rest of her life.
Pregnant with her first child, the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist is looking forward to starting a family. The Fort Collins resident wants to be able to attend the weddings, baby showers and funerals she missed during seven years of competition at track and field’s highest level.
She fought through personal turmoil, including a divorce and remarriage to the same man, husband Patrick Soukup, and numerous injuries, including a broken ankle, to become a two-time Olympian. She can’t begin to count the sacrifices she made to become one of the best American long-jumpers of all time.
The 32-year-old was the darling of Fort Collins and received a spirited send-off from Fort Collins residents when she left for the Olympics. The couple announced on social media just after the new year that she was pregnant. COLORADOAN
