(1) “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
No one is good enough to save themselves. It is like trying to swim from California to Hawaii—no one can make it. In the same way, we are all separated from God because of sin and can never earn His forgiveness on our own.
(2) “For the wages of sin are death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
God is holy and just, so sin must be punished. His sinless Son, Jesus Christ, was crucified to take the punishment for our sins so that we can be set free. Without Christ, death means eternal separation from God.
(3) “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
We can never be good enough on our own. Like someone struggling to stay afloat in the ocean, we need rescue. Jesus offers that rescue through His love. If we reject Him, there is no other hope.
(4) “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
When we call out to God in faith, He saves us. We are born again into a new life through God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Results of Salvation
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)
